[Omnicat] <Nyaa> We will of course be playing Star Citizen. If you have a game package, you can join our subversion efforts right here. See you in the 'verse!
[08-29, 07:59] <Stinky Cheez> No one is making that mistake, hazardous - lol. And 5 Euro/mo. for 40 mbit sounds pretty damn good.
[08-29, 07:58] <hazardous> if actual speed is 4mbps then sync speed must be at least 25% higher otherwise you have speed issues
[08-29, 07:58] <Stinky Cheez> ADSL can do roughly 24 mbit (for ADSL2+) currently. And the data rate is limited mostly by inherent bottlenecks in DSL, the biggest 2 of which are signal attenuation/noise from distance from the closest DSLAM, and noise from the various lines entering/leaving at the DSLAM itself.
[08-29, 07:57] <ajlexahgp0> Oh, ISP talks ... 5euro/month , 40mbit .How does it sound? :)
[08-29, 07:56] <hazardous> any isp's confusing sync speed with actual speed = stupid
[08-29, 07:55] <hazardous> data rate is aka sync speed
[08-29, 07:55] <Stinky Cheez> Of course cable has an easier time supplying high speeds than ADSL; they don't have the same limits on switching, AND their lines are shielded by default, at least up to the house unlike ADSL, which quite often is not.
[08-29, 07:54] <hazardous> adsl data rate
[08-29, 07:54] <hazardous> for example if you have 4mbps plan and your data rate is set to 4096 then you will not get speed more then 3.5mbps
[08-29, 07:53] <Stinky Cheez> It was cable. ANd it was REAL data rate, from my uTorrent Bittorrent client - lol. Speedtests from were also consistently good.
[08-29, 07:52] <hazardous> if you are talking about data rate, you might see it on your modem page adsl status
[08-29, 07:51] <Stinky Cheez> I miss Antietam. Small ISP, but they have pretty decent speeds and NO data cap (I asked the installer AND called their office, they were quite emphatic on this). Also, never one C&D letter, although I dunno if that was due to luck or their efforts.
[08-29, 07:50] <hazardous> i am currently on adsl which works better. already disconnected cable long ago. :D
[08-29, 07:50] <Stinky Cheez> Hazardous, I got 3.5 MB/s CONSTANTLY from my ISP, assuming I was downloading from a source (usually a Bittorrent swarm or swarms) that could supply the bandwidth in the 1st place. You are falsely generalizing from your own experience.
[08-29, 07:49] <hazardous> don't forget the data rate. some isp are stupid enough to mistake it for port speed
[08-29, 07:48] <Stinky Cheez> Hazardous, your local cable provider(s) is/are poo, then. ANd damn, that sucks, TRUE, considering Germany is s'posed to have apretty damn good rep for broadband. I'm willing to bet you could find a competitive wireless ISP for the same cost, or close to it, with better speeds (and your wiring will then be a non-issue).
[08-29, 07:47] <hazardous> isp caps wont let it hit those mbits
[08-29, 07:46] <[TRVE]> Yes, DSL. I live in Germany by the way, and I did look around for a better ISP, but the problem is that I live in a house where the wiring hasn't been replaced since 1963, the year it was built, so it's really shitty. I literally cannot get a better connection than 2 Mbit. Same goes for cable. While in theory it's possible to get a higher speed, I'd be getting around 3 Mbit, so I decided not to bother until I can afford to move.
[08-29, 07:45] <hazardous> so far adsl works better than cable for me. i have used both and cable signal always went out due to loads of modems. not enough signal to feed all the modems
[08-29, 07:45] <Stinky Cheez> According to WIki, ADSL2++ is supposed to hit 52 mbit or so, but it's still under development.
[08-29, 07:43] <Stinky Cheez> Mayobe, are you attempting to make fun of a joke name..? =3 Try harder, if so. If not, er, whut?
[08-29, 07:41] <Stinky Cheez> The current max ADSL speed is 24 mbit/s, which IS better than many, if not most cable connections that are currently available, but definitely NOT all. nd you only get the top-rated speed if you are pretty damn close to the local DSLAM, and/or you have exceptionally clean lines.
[08-29, 07:41] <Abunja> Oh, I see. So I've been in wrong for a long time. Thanks for clarifying that. And bytes is larger, of course. Like its 8 bits/byte IIRC.
[08-29, 07:41] <Mayobe> stinky cheez, more like chinky steez
[08-29, 07:37] <Stinky Cheez> And no, ADSL is rarely better than cable, especially now that cable has successfully hit 50 mbit in some places. The SPEC can go faster than (some) cable, but generally does not.
[08-29, 07:35] <Stinky Cheez> Um, no, you got it exactly backards, sorry ("B" = "bytes", "b" = bits; just think, which is larger? lol) and I properly used exactly that convention, Abunja ^^' ; I meant 3.5 megabyte/s down and 550 kilobyte/s up, for example. And I also clarified which I meant, at the time -.-'
And yes, those "B"s are bytes
[08-29, 07:32] <MysticVortex> @hazardous So Doki is banned just because of some war they had?
[08-29, 07:30] <Abunja> Darn Shift+Enter.
[08-29, 07:29] <Abunja> AFAIK, "B" = bits while "b" = bytes so its a bit confusing if you don't explain what are you referring to.
[08-29, 07:29] <hazardous> adsl always better than cable. the only problem is isp
[08-29, 07:28] <Abunja> AFAIK, "B" = bits while
[08-29, 07:28] <Stinky Cheez> A war..? LOL - That's pretty funny.
[08-29, 07:27] <Stinky Cheez> Gaming works fine.
[08-29, 07:27] <hazardous> Nyaa and Doki had a War
[08-29, 07:27] <Stinky Cheez> I was also surprised to find that latency (pings) wasn't bad at all. Not as good as cable, but only 10-15% higher, or so.
[08-29, 07:25] <Stinky Cheez> Also, they have *no* monthly bandwidth caps.
[08-29, 07:24] <Stinky Cheez> You may want to check out some of the new wireless ISPs that have been popping up (assuming you live in the US, that is). My father-in-law pays $40/mo., I think, which isn't bad at all.
[08-29, 07:23] <Stinky Cheez> DSL then? ADSL spec actually allows for significatly higher speeds than even most cable connections, but they never go that fast, sadly.
[08-29, 07:21] <[TRVE]> 240 KB/s down, 24 KB/s up.
[08-29, 07:17] <Stinky Cheez> I'm curious as to what went down, to make Doki so unwelcome >.> .
[08-29, 07:16] <Stinky Cheez> *residence's connection
[08-29, 07:16] <Stinky Cheez> Jealous..? Damn, your connection must be kinda bad. My last residence did about 3.5 MB/s down and (funny enough) 550 KB/s up, or so. And yes, those "B"s are bytes ^^ . This connection is good enough, mind you, but I damn sure miss getting a 720p movie in 10-15 minutes.
[08-29, 07:13] <MysticVortex> So, is anything related to Doki Fansubs banned or what..?
[08-29, 07:13] <[TRVE]> I am so jealous.
[08-29, 07:02] <Stinky Cheez> Had a good laugh about that
[08-29, 07:02] <Stinky Cheez> That's almost as funny as the fact that my father-in-laws wireless internet ISP provides "inverse asynchronous" bandwidth (just found out today). He gets roughly 350 KB/s down and 550 KB/s up. Never seen the like...
[08-29, 07:01] <[TRVE]> One year older than this.
[08-29, 07:00] <Stinky Cheez> LOL damn
[08-29, 06:59] <[TRVE]> The oldest HS release is probably this.
[08-29, 06:57] <Stinky Cheez> Well, to be fair, I AM getting old - lol
[08-29, 06:56] <Stinky Cheez> I'm actually somewhat impressed that HS has been ripping CR shows for that long. I feel kinda old now o.O' .
[08-29, 06:55] <[TRVE]> B-but muh official subs
[08-29, 06:53] <Stinky Cheez> And yes, it's seeded. =p
[08-29, 06:53] <Stinky Cheez> You'll find that BakaBT has the the entire Chihiro 720p version of Fortune Arterial. If you only need certain episodes, just un-tick the others in your torrent client's download dialog.
[08-29, 06:49] <Stinky Cheez> That's a four-year-old torrent. Are you high, or just stupid..? Considering reseed requests are against the rules in the shoutbhox, I'm guessing you're stupid ^^' .
[08-29, 06:44] <Stinky Cheez> "FFT" is an acronym for "fast Fourier transform", a VERY powerful mathematical tool. For example, it's what was used to "de-fuzz" Hubble's images, before the corrective lens (because there was an error in the main lens) was applied. It's an interesting subject =) .
[08-29, 06:02] <()blivion> Looks like anibin use something involving FFT transform comparison of the original(BD?) to the broadcast. If there is little difference/distortion, the white will follow perfect horizontal or vertical lines. More distortion means more white anywhere else. Aspect ratio distortion looks to manifest as straight diagonal lines. (I have only glanced at their explanation. And I can't read Japanese.)
[08-29, 05:54] <hazardous> blame feds
[08-29, 05:23] <Chewi105> so theres basically no reason to be alive this week.
[08-29, 05:22] <Chewi105> Zankyou and Barakamon are taking the week off
[08-29, 05:14] <LigerNyan> where is zankyou!!
[08-29, 03:52] <hazardous> we lived too many 3D lives in the past so yes we are only interested in 2D ;)
[08-29, 03:49] <sarachikorita> "HV" (for HiVision) is the abbreviation used in Japan instead of "HD".
[08-29, 03:40] <eternia> we are only interested in 2D, sorry :-D
[08-29, 03:38] <Robert Franklin> Girl: uuuu, I'm a innocent playful girl. Guy: I'm a greasy old man, ruhhghghghh.
[08-29, 03:34] <Abunja> AV = Adult Video, no?
[08-29, 03:08] <Robert Franklin> Fakku went CR.
[08-29, 02:38] <luketmk> hi, anyone care to share a good source for AV subtitles?
[08-29, 02:18] <Hobichan> anibin is all chinese to me. I just check whether a title says HVFULL or HV1280, etc.
[08-29, 02:13] <Robert Franklin> with maths
[08-29, 02:13] <Robert Franklin> Ah, in short, it compares the size of the image's pixels to the size of actual pixels.
[08-29, 01:57] <Robert Franklin> Is there any human-translated description of what the anibin function and output actually are?
[08-29, 01:32] <Hobichan> according to anibin, Hyouka was done in 955p. Not full 1080 but almost there; it's an improvement.
[08-29, 01:24] <Robert Franklin> Just use the time to write shibazaki x 5 ero.
[08-29, 01:22] <magatsukami> ugghhh.. mendokuse
[08-29, 01:10] <Robert Franklin> There's no tacticool Lisa fanart yet. This makes me sad.
[08-29, 00:49] <opabato9000> zankyou and barakamon won't air this week and some other 2 shows i don't care about
[08-29, 00:43] <MichaelMyersIsKawaii> Holy shit!
[08-29, 00:12] <xell17> Can't get the Madoka ED song out of my head. Dunno why the japanese are so into high-pitched voices. Stuff like this is a thousand times better.
[08-29, 00:01] <Robert Franklin> Special Agent Cularens put a stop to piracy?
[08-28, 23:51] <vivan> magatsukami, FBI happened
[08-28, 23:19] <Robert Franklin> is anichart down for others?
[08-28, 23:17] <Robert Franklin> i bet japan assassinated zero-raws.
[08-28, 23:17] <[TRVE]> Stinky Cheez, read this.
[08-28, 23:11] <magatsukami> what happened to Zankyou?
[08-28, 22:43] <Stinky Cheez> So, [TRVU], Hyouka is "almost" 1080p..? Can you elaborate?
[08-28, 22:40] <Meivyn> herkz, you know how to use the site ? mouseover on the image to see difference
[08-28, 22:38] <herkz> yes, that is very ugly. warpsharp is god awful.
[08-28, 22:31] <MisterDonut> no. you only get to know the settings used for x264 sometimes.
[08-28, 22:28] <Meivyn> Is there a way to know encoding methods used for a video ?
[08-28, 22:23] <Meivyn> Actually I can use NNEDI3 only for chroma, I don't see "luma"
[08-28, 22:20] <Nyaa> If you're using NNEDI3 for both chroma and luma, you pretty much won't get a sharper/"better" image without completely screwing over any details.
[08-28, 22:19] <Meivyn> Release from but actually all links seems to be dead
[08-28, 22:19] <Meivyn> You think it's ugly ?
[08-28, 22:17] <herkz> why would you want to reproduce that ugly shit
[08-28, 22:17] <Meivyn> from pd @シーシュポス I dunno what this mean
[08-28, 22:15] <Meivyn> I would like to contact the author of it, but I dunno exactly how to do it...
[08-28, 22:11] <SneakiestNEG> Ha! Shows what I know. Haven't touched disk media in years. Downloading is actually faster than ordering it online. And I don't think stores that sell discs even exist anymore.
[08-28, 22:11] <Meivyn> Unfortunately I'm not experienced enough in video encoding to reproduce the same thing, and I can not find links to download it
