Piyo Piyo Productions presents:
Stardust Paradise v1.1 (Video version 2.0, script revision "B")

Plot synopsis:
Poor Yuzuru was prepared to begin life as an orphan when his mother passed away. Only it turns out she wasn’t entirely truthful about his father – His father is alive and well, and a famous singer to boot! In fact, his father is about to marry a famous actress with an equally famous daughter. Yuzuru finds himself thrust into a crazy world of wealth and celebrity – will he be able to adjust?

Project notes:
Before you panic - yes, the beginning is supposed to be blurry, and it is supposed to be in that box like that.

A fun little OVA. Shin Newtype is a fan of the original manga it was based on, and when he saw I owned the laserdisc he volunteered to translate it. This guy actually went out and obtained the music CDs for this so that he would have the correct printed lyrics - pretty good, no? BTW, Shin Newtype is available for hire if you need translation work. You can contact him at shin_newtype

Jump Video apparently blew its entire load on the voice talent for this one, because they certainly spared all expense on the video transfer - it was a mess. Like Hi-Speed Jecy episode 4 it had a nasty jitter, but this jitter was both vertical and horizontal, the picture was grainy, and there was some nasty dotcrawl involving Rina's bright red hair on bright blue backgrounds. These were all correctable, though again, the stab filter introduces some jerkiness to panning, but it isn't as noticeable as it was in Jecy 4. The other defects in the video are beyond my abilities, notably the rough scene transitions with the black junk at the bottom of the screen.

There was also a thirteen minute making-of special with the vocal talent, but Shin Newtype didn't really care to translate it, and I wasn't about to press the point because I didn't really care to subtitle it. If I had the script I suppose I might have, just for the lulz, but meh. I've included it as a separate file in case you'd like to see it. As a live-action portion it required different filtering, and it didn't have any jitter at all, which again leads me to conclude they cared more about the vocal talent than the actual animation. Jerks...
